There's nothing more rewarding than helping homeless animals. The purr of a kitten and the appreciative look in a dog's eyes say "Thank You" like nothing else can. Volunteers are very important to the Humane Society. We rely on the assistance of caring, hardworking volunteers to fulfill our mission of finding homes for the over 3,000 homeless animals we take in annually.
The first step to becoming a volunteer is attending a required orientation to learn the expectations and procedures involved. Volunteer orientations are held once a month with the date/time posted on our website. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.
Orientations are on the 3rd Saturday of every month and you MUST sign up to attend. For volunteers 18 years and older the orientation is at 10 am and for junior volunteers, ages 14-17 or those only wanting school community service hours, the orientation begins at 11 am.
If you are inquiring about volunteer hours for a school or church community service project, please contact Emily Cyr at (912) 354-9515 ext. 0 or email the shelter at contactus@humanesocietysav.org.
